Gamepires (2010)

The Croatian Studio Behind SCUM, the Most Complex Biological Survival Simulator in Gaming

Croatia · 2010 · studio

Founded in 2010 in Zagreb, Croatia by Tomislav Pongrac and Andrej Levenski, Gamepires is an acclaimed development studio that engineered SCUM, celebrated as the most uncompromisingly detailed human metabolism and physical survival simulation ever created. Reaching 1 million copies sold in its opening weeks with Devolver Digital, Gamepires was acquired by Jagex in 2022.

Gamepires (2010)

The Unprecedented Metabolic Simulation of SCUM

Setting a new bar for hardcore survival realism, SCUM tracks real-time biochemical bodily data: nutritional caloric intake, dental health affecting chewing speeds, damp clothing weight penalties, and stamina depletion governed by body mass. Dropped onto an island run as a televised dystopian prison show, players navigate ballistics and tactical stealth with unforgiving depth.

Acquisition by Jagex and Croatian Growth

Following years of expanding SCUM with vehicle mechanics and modular base building, UK-based RuneScape developer Jagex acquired Gamepires in December 2022. Alongside Croteam, Gamepires established Croatia as a formidable Eastern European hotbed for high-performance PC simulation development.
