SCUM (2018)

Gamepires' Croatian Hyper-Realistic Survival Simulator Powered by Granular Human Biometrics

Croatia · 2018 · game

Developed in Zagreb by Croatian studio Gamepires (in collaboration with Croteam and published by Devolver Digital) and launched into Early Access in 2018, SCUM elevated multiplayer open-world survival through astonishingly granular biological and metabolic simulation. Framed around a dystopian reality television broadcast where death-row inmates are dumped onto a maximum-security island run by TEC1 Corporation, the game models human physiology with unprecedented fidelity. Tracking metabolic rate, caloric intake, micronutrients, stomach volume, tooth count, and bowel movements, SCUM represents one of Croatia's greatest modern gaming success stories.

SCUM (2018)

Unrivaled Human Metabolism Simulation

Physical attributes are continuously modulated by biochemical intake. Deficiencies in vitamins induce specific debuffs, losing teeth impairs chewing hard foods, while managing hydration, body mass index, and digestion determines running endurance and carrying capacity.

Adriatic Landscape and Commercial Triumph

The sprawling island environment meticulously captures Croatia’s sun-drenched Adriatic coastline, coastal stone villages, and Mediterranean pine forests. Surpassing one million copies sold in its debut week, it became Croatia’s fastest-selling video game title.
