Flying Wild Hog (2009)
Reviving Relentless Old-School Action: Hard Reset, Shadow Warrior, and Evil West
Established in 2009 in Warsaw by veterans of People Can Fly and CD Projekt, Flying Wild Hog is Poland's vanguard of relentless, high-velocity first-person shooter action. Engineering their proprietary Road Hog Engine, the studio debuted with cyberpunk hit Hard Reset (2011) before executing the celebrated modern reimagining of 3D Realms' Shadow Warrior franchise, pioneering dynamic katana-and-gun combat.
From Painkiller Heritage to Cyberpunk Hard Reset
Flying Wild Hog originated when senior architects behind Painkiller broke away to preserve old-school FPS purity. Rejecting the slow, regenerative-health cover shooters dominating the era, the studio developed Hard Reset (2011) powered by their proprietary Road Hog Engine. The title delivered relentless kinetic gunplay against swarms of biomechanical robots in neon-soaked dystopian corridors, establishing a benchmark for independent Polish engineering.
Shadow Warrior Trilogy and Kinetic Genre Mastery
Partnering with publisher Devolver Digital in 2013, Flying Wild Hog rebooted the 1997 build-engine landmark Shadow Warrior. Reimagining protagonist Lo Wang, the studio engineered an unprecedented directional katana slicing system seamlessly interwoven with heavy firepower. Expanding into cooperative procedural arenas in Shadow Warrior 2 and cinematic pulp brawling in 2022's Evil West, the studio remains one of Europe's most accomplished action artisans.
