Son Işık Oyun Stüdyosu
The Demirden Brothers' Indie Triumph and Turkish 3D Action Heritage
Son Işık Oyun Stüdyosu is an independent Turkish game development studio established in Istanbul in 2004 by brothers Yasin Demirden and Yakup Demirden. Celebrated for authoring Turkey's inaugural survival horror benchmark Kabus 22 (2006), the studio proved that high-fidelity 3D action titles could be crafted domestically without institutional backing.
Homegrown Engineering Without Venture Capital
Operating without state grants or venture financing, the Demirden brothers developed their proprietary 3D engine over three intensive years. Their technical rigor attracted consumer electronics corporation Vestel as domestic distributor and commercial sponsor, releasing a boxed domestic hit in December 2006.
Mentorship and Legacy
Following the European release of Kabus 22, Son Işık mentored emerging Turkish student developers, presenting university lectures on real-time 3D animation and engine architecture that helped ignite the modern Turkish gaming startup boom.
