Broken Sword Series

Charles Cecil, Revolution Software, and the Knights Templar European Masterpiece

Birleşik Krallık · 1996 · game

Crafted in 1996 by Charles Cecil at Revolution Software, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars established a pinnacle of European point-and-click storytelling through George Stobbart, Nico Collard, and a grand conspiracy of the Knights Templar.

Broken Sword Series

Autumn in Paris and the Clown Bombing

Broken Sword opened with one of gaming's most striking prologues: an accordion-playing clown detonates a Parisian café, launching vacationing American patent lawyer George Stobbart into an international conspiracy. Partnering with French investigative journalist Nico Collard, their globe-trotting trail tracked the ancient occult secrets of the Knights Templar across Montfauçon, Ireland, Spain, and Syria years before The Da Vinci Code popularized the premise.

Don Bluth Lineage and the Infamous Goat Puzzle

Enlisting veteran animators from Don Bluth's Dublin studio to draw expressive cel animations alongside Barrington Pheloung's classical orchestral score, the game captured cinematic European elegance. It achieved folkloric status among adventure aficionados for the notoriously timing-sensitive 'Goat Puzzle' in Lochmarne, remaining a cornerstone of British game design.
