Home Sweet Home (2017)
Yggdrazil Group's Thai Buddhist Mythology, Box-Cutter Phantom Belle, and Southeast Asian Dread
Crafted by Bangkok visual effects and animation powerhouse Yggdrazil Group and launched in 2017, Home Sweet Home is Thailand's foremost international survival horror milestone. Grieving the inexplicable disappearance of his wife Jane, protagonist Tim awakens in a dilapidated, shifting labyrinthine apartment complex haunted by 'Belle', a mutilated female collegiate spirit relentlessly snapping a retractable utility knife. Infused with authentic Thai Buddhist cosmology, black magic animism, and full VR support, it delivered visceral psychological terror.
Auditory Stalking and Stealth Hide-and-Seek
Completely defenseless, gameplay revolved around hiding inside rusted lockers and crawling beneath office desks. Auditory cues were paramount: the rhythmic, metallic 'click-click-click' of Belle extending her blood-stained utility blade signaled imminent mortal peril, particularly terrifying in PlayStation VR.
Saiyasart Occultism and Preta Demonology
Incorporating regional Thai folklore—such as sacred white threads (Sai Sin), protective protective spirit houses, and towering, needle-mouthed hungry ghosts (Pretas)—the game showcased Yggdrazil Group's cinematic CGI mastery, establishing Thailand on the global interactive horror map.
