Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA)
The Purest Peer-to-Peer Accolades at the Game Developers Conference
Held annually at GDC since 2001, the Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) are the premier peer-honors celebrating creative, technical, and artistic excellence purely among working developers.
By Developers, For Developers
Succeeding the earlier Spotlight Awards in 2001, the GDCA takes place inside San Francisco's Moscone Center during the Game Developers Conference. Open to nominations from the international developer community and adjudicated by the International Choice Awards Network (ICAN), it eschews marketing flash to focus purely on craft, coding elegance, and systemic design.
Pioneers and The Innovation Mandate
Beyond Game of the Year, the GDCA is celebrated for its 'Innovation Award', spotlighting titles that push the medium into unchartered design territory. Its Pioneer and Lifetime Achievement recipients, including Ralph Baer, Yu Suzuki, Carol Shaw, and Hideo Kojima, receive heartfelt standing ovations from roomfuls of their peers.
