Zootfly (Slovenia's Action & Tech Pioneer)
Zootfly, founded in December 2002 in Ljubljana by Bostjan Troha, is the foundational console and PC video game studio of Slovenia. Releasing armored WWII action title *Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory* (2006), the studio achieved legendary status in January 2007 when its unauthorized, pre-rendered in-engine *Ghostbusters* prototype video went intensely viral across the internet—single-handedly pressuring Sony Pictures and Atari into greenlighting the official 2009 *Ghostbusters: The Video Game*.
Origins and Panzer Elite Action
Bostjan Troha established Zootfly to bring multiplatform console development to Slovenia. Partnering with publisher JoWooD, Zootfly developed *Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory* (2006) for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2, distilling complex tank armor ballistics into accessible, explosive combat across historical European and North African theaters.
The 2007 Ghostbusters Leak That Shocked Hollywood
In January 2007, Zootfly uploaded prototype gameplay footage of an unauthorized, cover-based *Ghostbusters* action game built on Xbox 360 devkits. The footage triggered a global internet sensation. While Sony Pictures ordered a cease-and-desist, original star Dan Aykroyd cited the viral fan fervor as conclusive proof that the franchise demanded an interactive return, directly leading to Atari's official 2009 title.
Prison Break and Marlow Briggs Cult Acclaim
Zootfly followed up with *Prison Break: The Conspiracy* (2010) for Deep Silver and the over-the-top Mayan hack-and-slash brawler *Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death* (2013). As the first Slovenian studio certified for Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox hardware, Zootfly laid the foundation for Slovenia's digital creative sector.
