Radical Entertainment (1991)
Creators of The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Prototype, and Open-World Chaos
Established in 1991 in Vancouver by Dave Davis, Rory Armes, and Ian Wilkinson, Radical Entertainment is a cornerstone Canadian developer renowned for kinetic open-world game design. Beyond creating the beloved cultural touchstone The Simpsons: Hit & Run (2003), Radical engineered the visceral shapeshifting superpower sandbox Prototype (2009).
The Simpsons: Hit & Run and Springfield Mastery
By transposing Grand Theft Auto III's mission structure into the animated satire of Springfield, Radical produced The Simpsons: Hit & Run (2003). Featuring original voice actors and television scriptwriters, the game delivered tightly tuned vehicle handling and platforming that sold over 3 million copies and remains a celebrated classic.
Prototype and Kinetic Superhuman Freedom
In 2009, Radical unleashed Prototype, introducing virus-infected protagonist Alex Mercer. Empowering players to sprint up Manhattan skyscrapers, glide across city blocks, consume biomass to disguise as any NPC, and morph limbs into organic blades, it delivered unmatched chaotic power fantasy sandbox gameplay.
