Terry Pratchett, Eric Idle, and the Absurdist Flat-World Adventure Masterpiece

Birleşik Krallık · 1995 · game

Adapted in 1995 from Sir Terry Pratchett's globally renowned satirical fantasy novels, Discworld brought the city of Ankh-Morpork to life with Monty Python icon Eric Idle voicing incompetent wizard Rincewind alongside the walking Luggage.

Discworld Series

Four Elephants, a Great Turtle, and Monty Python Wit

Resting on the backs of four giant elephants riding through space on the cosmic turtle Great A'Tuin, Terry Pratchett's comic universe found its ideal medium in 1995. Cast as cowardly dropout wizard Rincewind, tasked by the Unseen University with neutralizing a summoned dragon terrorizing Ankh-Morpork, Monty Python veteran Eric Idle delivered an astonishing, joke-dense vocal performance.

Absurdist Inventory Conundrums and Discworld Noir

Boasting gorgeous cartoon sprite artwork and John Cleese-tier verbal sparring, the game was simultaneously notorious for its unapologetically lateral puzzle solutions. The franchise evolved further with 1996's Discworld II and culminated in 1999's Discworld Noir, which brilliantly parodied Humphrey Bogart detective tropes using an innovative clue-notebook deduction system.
