Founded in 1991 in Budapest as Amnesia Productions by Gábor Fehér and demoscene veterans, Digital Reality was the flagship game development studio of Hungary. Renowned for their groundbreaking cinematic 4X real-time grand strategy masterpieces Imperium Galactica (1997), the BAFTA-winning Imperium Galactica II: Alliances (1999), and visually spectacular Haegemonia: Legions of Iron (2002).

Digital Reality (1991)

Merging 4X Empire Management with Real-Time Tactics

Rising from the Hungarian Commodore and PC demoscene, the studio pioneered seamless scale transitions: players managed interstellar diplomacy on a galactic map, zoomed directly into 3D planetary surfaces to construct colonies, and engaged in real-time tactical space combat accompanied by cinematic FMV narrative cutscenes.

Haegemonia and Technological Polish

With 2002's Haegemonia: Legions of Iron, Digital Reality engineered one of the earliest high-fidelity hardware-accelerated 3D space engines featuring dynamic particle nebula rendering and complex espionage mechanics. Digital Reality served as the foundational school that trained the elite generation of Hungarian game engineers.
