Bosna-Hersek · 2023 · game

Bygone Dreams, released on July 11, 2023, by Sarajevo-based Prime Time and Mirolist, is the most ambitious video game in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Imbued with Slavic folklore, Bosnian fairy tales, and Balkan nature spirits, the game casts players as Wa, a newborn spirit of vapor dispatched into the unraveling dream realm of Lume. Backed by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, it merges Soulslike precision with classic Zelda-esque environmental puzzle-solving.

Bygone Dreams (2023)

The World of Lume and the Spirit of Wa

Set within the sprawling dreamscape of a slumbering cosmic tree, Lume has fallen under the sway of a petrifying nightmare corruption. Players embody Wa, a diminutive mist spirit tasked with venturing across ancient ruins, weeping forests, and subterranean temples to rouse the sleeping Matriarchs.

Combat Precision and Dungeon Exploration

Drawing deliberate structural inspiration from both *The Legend of Zelda* and contemporary Soulslike action titles, *Bygone Dreams* emphasizes deliberate melee timing, parry frames, and elemental upgrades. Environmental navigation requires unraveling water-level chambers and atmospheric traversal puzzles.

Symphonic Soul of the Balkans

Recorded live in Sarajevo with the 50-piece Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra and traditional folk soloists, the game's soundtrack earned universal acclaim for its sweeping melancholic beauty. *Bygone Dreams* stands as an enduring monument to Bosnian creative resilience.
